Friends of Justice and the Eternal Struggle for Goodly Goodness!
Jewbie's Journal Week 18
As I sit tending the small fire and watching the mouth of the cave we have made camp in; I notice the Shadar Kai witch staring at me with unfriendly violet eyes. She’s hardly said a word since she joined us in the Lich’s dungeon, and when she does open her mouth it’s invariably something unkind. Honestly, I don’t know what her problem is. Much different than our other new companion, SHAWN. He seems like a trustworthy and honorable dragonborn. That makes three of us in this party, and while it warms my heart to see my own kind again after so many years of exile, I worry that sooner or later one of them will try to bring up my past and my “crimes” will be remembered or revealed. That will be an ill day indeed.
My other companions all seem to be resting, more or less fitfully. 8.2 is propped upright near the cave’s entrance, his eyes glowing dimly in power saving mode. Vlade is near the fire, flat on his back and snoring loud enough to wake the dead. Ah, the righteous sleep like a baby! SHAWN is next to me, sitting with legs crossed and eyes closed, deep in some religious trance. I haven’t seen him move for hours. Lastly, Redsky is curled up in a fetal position in the corner, sucking his thumb. He sobbed himself to sleep, just like every night since we met. Now he is still; although I occasionally hear him cry out “No!”, “No!” or “Stop”, or “Please, don’t touch me there!”. Poor guy. Well, I better get some shuteye. That pale harpy is still staring at me hatefully. Not my fault that she decided to stand right in the middle of the pack of ghouls when I had a perfect shot to flame cyclone them all. Fine, I guess as long as shes going to stay awake, she can keep watch.
